Guittard Candy

The success of Guittard Chocolate was one of luck and experimentation. In the 1800s left France to find gold in California. He brought little money with him, but had chocolate from his uncle's factory. Originally thinking to trade the chocolate for digging equipment, he found that people would instead pay him money for chocolate. With this new reality in mind, he returned to France and honed his craft before returning to San Francisco and starting his company. The business remains in the Guittard family, and has survived wars and natural disasters, including the 1906 earthquake that destroyed the original plant. Today they make chocolates of all kind, including a variety of chips. You can find some of the finest yogurt, butterscotch, chocolate, and semi-sweet chocolate chips from Guittard. They're also the official chocolate supplier of Williams-Sonoma.
