Gilliam Candy made a name ofr itself with stick candy, which is just like a candy cane except straight. These multicolor, striped confections have been around since the 1920s, filling shelves at general stores and displays at supermarkets through the years. The founder, Cleve Gilliam, expanded his line to include other candies such as Bacon Slice and Cello Sally. He sold the business upon reting, and the new company produced even more lines of candy under the Gilliam brand. Most recently, in 2003, Quality Candy Company bought the Gilliam line and put a renewed emphasis on the candy sticks. Candy sticks are now available in over two dozen flavors, with the new ones matching quality with the original line that Cleve Gilliam developed over 80 years ago.
